Smiler ride no longer has smiler's coming off the ride?

Alton Towers is currently closed due to a crash! Four people were injured after Smiler's carriages collided. This happend on Tuesday 2nd June. The passengers were stuck for four and a half hours!

 

The main victims were two men (aged 27 and 18) and two young women - aged 19 and 17 - and have suffered serious leg injuries. BBC's Danny Savage said the some on the ride sustained "life-changing injuries" meanwhile a senoir paramedic, Peter Howell commented that "The women's injuries were worst, both suffered open wounds and damaged legs; the two men had leg and chest injuries but were less seriosly hurt.

 

A further tweleve recieved medical treatment, and all sixteen were rescued from 7.6 metres in the air at a rough angle of 45 degrees.

 

 

"Our business is about giving people memorable experiences with the emphasis on safety and yesterday something dreadful happened.

"Those two cars should not have been on the same piece of track. Technically that should not have happened.

"There are braking locks that should stop two cars being on the same section of track and somehow that didn't work the way it was meant to."

- Nick Varney, chief executive of the park's owners Merlin Entertainments, said.

 

It is unsure as to when the park will re-open.
